Dr. Montague-Smith's Exam Style

Students frequently lose a ton of exam points because they're caught off guard by ring-opening, ring-closing, surprise side reactions, and exceptions to the rule.

Starting Fall 2020 there was a CHEM 241 curriculum change, but I will help you navigate old exams to practice what’s relevant from past tests for your exams this Spring 2024 semester.

Dr. Montague-Smith's synthesis and spectroscopy questions are where students spend the most time. He refuses to tell students his source for NMR spectroscopy problems, and creates his own synthesis problems.

My grading estimates are based on actual exam/final averages and curve cutoffs from the most recent semester he taught CHEM 241.
