What to look out for in UMD CHEM 272 Lab

    • Not Enough Resources

      Famously Difficult

    CHEM 272 Lab is famous for the wrong reasons - 12 hour lab reports, harsh grading, non-conventional chem curriculum, and the department will not allow any transfer credits for CHEM 272 Lab.

      Unique to UMD

    CHEM 272 Lab Lecture & 272 Lab are unique classes to UMD only. They are taken after Orgo 2 and designed so that students cannot opt out of the 272 via transfer credit.

      Harsh Grading

    Nit-picky grading rubric, and non-consistent grading across all TA’s (teaching assistants). A harsher grading TA has proven to tank their own student’s scores by > 10% compared to lenient sections. This creates the worst disadvantage since Dr. Schech will set the same curve for all CHEM 272 Lab sections combined.
